And to make it easier to remember, these numbers correspond to the letters *#MAC WLAN#

Enter this number, where???
November 29th, 2007 at 12:19 am
Just type it in after you pop open the phone (make sure the keypad isn’t locked) and just start typing the string.
Once you finish the entire string the mac address will come up on the screen.

Strange… Doesn’t seem to work on my N95 :S
January 16th, 2008 at 9:02 am
You must be doing something wrong Martin.
Really you just unlock the phone, punch those codes right in and the MAC address pops up. It’s worked on every N95 I’ve ever seen so far.
Now on saying that I’ve never tried it on an N95 8GB phone, is that what you have?
January 16th, 2008 at 9:29 am
really strange.. i got the normal N95 put it in offline mode (even tried it in online mode with w-lan on and off) but it doens’t make a difference. Is there anybody who got this working with the newest firmware version??
January 16th, 2008 at 9:31 am

January 26th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Marting are you putting the space after MAC which would be a ’0′.
February 7th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
The code works perfectly on my N95 8GB
Thanks a lot.
Have been having the phone for less than a week and it hung twice. Reset once by itself….. :s Keeping my fingers cross to see if i need and OS upgrade….
March 16th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Also worked perfectly on my E61…
Thanks so much for this info – was almost ready to give up hope of ever conecting my phone to ‘mac-address-required’ WiFi networks.

Thanks for this – I have had experience of this working well before – but today is not my day! – I have the 8gb N95 and it doesn’t want to play ball today! Will contact Nokia and let you know if there is something buried deeper that trips us unlucky ones up.

Yes – Found it. Who knows why the above doesn’t work for some – I used a more bohemian technique in the end. I took the battery out and read it off the back of a tiny sticker! FYI – The MAC address for your phone is a series of numbers (which you sometimes have to separate into pairs with colons when you type it in). Nokia term the number string on the sticker not as MAC address but as WLAN. Why? Why? Whateva!

Ne one could tell me how to change de MAC ID on my N95,.,.
October 23rd, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Well it doesn’t work on my N95 2Gb. Maybe it’s an OS problem. Mine is running S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 software – but the “read it off the sticker technique” worked everytime!
Cheers!

Thank you very much
I was looking for it to add in my router access.
November 14th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Works on N78 as well. Thanks!
December 10th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Thanks this worked nicely. But with N95 remember to use the * asteriks symbol before the first # symbol. so the code you enter should be… *#62209526#
Thanks again you guys, good job!!
January 26th, 2009 at 11:34 pm

February 27th, 2009 at 10:24 am
Works on N95 8GB
Thanks
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:03 pm
I think the problem is that the asterisk at the begining is really easy to miss. with this works fine. THX

hello every one any one tell me that how can i change mac adress of my nokia n95.
December 11th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
Hey ikzzz and Nev,
You can simply never change a MAC id.
It’s a physical address burnt into every network equipment in the world, and it’s unique for each and every one.
Think of it as your own ID number or your social security number, only globally

you can change mac addresses using software even though it’s hard-coded, like macchanger for the n900 and all linux equipment, network settings in windows, etc. etc.; im sure there’s a way to spoof the mac address on an n95.
