3G iPhone Hints and Tips site launched!
N95 July 11th, 2008Many of you may be giving up your beloved N95′s to move to the Apple iPhone.
Rest assured we will be there to help you with our usual range of hints and tips.
Just head on over to my3G-iPhone.com for all the latest news, hints and tips.
The site currently uses a very similar template, which I’ll update over the next couple of days, then again why change a winning formula!
I won’t however be changing over to an iPhone at this stage, I’m keeping myN95 because I can’t live without certain features which aren’t yet available for iPhone. Things like MMS and using myN95 as a bluetooth modem. Hopefully iPhone will overcome these limitations in the future. Of course my wife is very interested in getting an iPhone for her birthday later this month, so we will have at least one in the family!

I certainly won’t be giving up my N95 fo that piece of rubbish. I would never buy a phone that doesn’t have a battery you can’t change yourself, and does not have full features bluetooth.
Next phone I’ll get will be the N96 or what ever preceeds that one. Why would you buy a phone that is nothing but an over hyped ipd with call capabilities, does not allow bluetooth file transfer, or MMS out of the box, and is mostly required to use with two hands all the time. Touch screen is a nice gymic, but thats all it is.

I too won’t be giving up my N95 8GB for that piece of rubbish. I too would never buy a phone that doesn’t have a battery you can’t change yourself, and does not have full features bluetooth.

Hi Scanman, I hear the N96 might be released fairly soon. Always hard to say when these things will precisely land. I most likely won’t move to it though as my N95 is still doing everything I need in a phone. The N96 is an interesting concept though if only the digital TV stuff worked here in Australia it might push me over to it.

Hey.
I assume the digital TV in the N96 will be suitable for our terrestrial DVB TV. Hope so. I’ll wait and see what happens with this phone. Maybe I’ll want to upgrade my N95, which I still thinkis the best phoen I have owned, and I amways find new apps of something new about it.
As for the iPhone, well I have played with the iPod touch, and its an easy gimmick to get caught up into being addicted to. But when you look at the big picture its a piece of rubbish, like most apple products. Over prices and over hyped. Not user friendly as it seems. Got me stuffed what the designers were thinking at Apple when they did this phone. You think like any other company they would at least include the main features found in most top shelf models. Any company that thinks like this, and misses the basics is not good at what they do if you ask me.

In my case I’m sticking up with my N95 until Nokia sell an alternative to the iPhone -> an N95 with a touc interface.
Of course I don’t know if Nokia will ever have souch a thing, but I doubt they won’t. If they don’t then the future of telephony will be apple following models, and like you guys have said, its not as good.
Cheers.

As good as a touch interface may be, if you think about it, its not practical at all, and if anything just a gimick that will die out soon enough. Think about how many times you drive yor N95 using just one hand, say dialing a number, or just flicking through the menu.
Now get your self a touch phone and try that. You can’t do it. All touch phones require you to use both hands, one to hold it and one to allow you to touch the screen.
One thing forme I would get annoyed with pretty soon if I had to do it all the time.

I love the N95.. This is my 4th one in about 6 months. Hardware problem, software problem, battery problem..
I’m currently looking for some sort of code to hard reset the devil as it keeps crashing on me.
This is a big piece of rubbish.

scanman> I had a an O2 XDA2 mini before my N95…It had a touch screen interface and I swore after it that I’d never go back! I’ve been into the shops and checked out the iPhone as well as playing with the ones my friends own, and after you get over the gimmickness of it you start to realise it’s limitations!
1. No MMS
2. No full bluetooth features, inc file transfer etc, 3. Although you can connect a car FM transmitter for the Music side of the phone, you can’t connect your calls through an FM transmitted (ie switch from listening to music to a phone call means going from your car stereo to a puny little speaker in the iPhone) – a complete oversight!
3. Never can you use the iPhone one-handed – it always requires two hands – one to steady the handset and one to input
4. Ever try texting on this thing without looking? It’s impossible as there is no tactile sense to guide your fingers – I can text message people without even looking at my N95
5. The iPhone is actually quite large and very noticeable in your pocket – however it is very thin making it a little awkward to grab hold of. I can just imagine getting out of the car and grabbing a few things and the iPhone will go flying out of my hand and smash all over the ground. The size of the N95 is perfect – it fits in your hand!
Anyway all that said…I’m off to buy an iPhone….JUST KIDDING! hehe
They are not complete rubbish….they make good door stoppers! Just kidding again!!
I can see why average people would like it…cos they wouldn’t use all the features a geek like me would!!
PEACE
